We hope you enjoyed and loved the Free Waterfront5k that we offered last night, and if you were a newbie, we would love to see you back again sometime soon - the more numbers made the event more impressive and we had a great atmosphere out there on course, plus also before and after.
We would love to offer a free Waterfront5k every week, but at this stage that isn't feasible, our costs need to be covered - but hopefully there might be some knowledge that we have gained from last nights event that could help us find a group of partners, supporters and sponsors that might in the long term allow us to do this. So, if you know of any local Wellington companies that have a strong wellness program for their staff and might also be interested in helping a wider group of Wellingtonians with their Health goals, please drop us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Thanks for being part of our event yesterday evening. We hope you enjoyed yourself and hope to see you again.
This evening the Waterfront5k was humming with 195 runners on the start line, possibly encouraged by the free event option we offered tonight.
We had 85 new & amazing participants for the season tonight, with 55 of them joining us for the first time ever - a special welcome to those people, we hope you had a great run around the Wellington Harbour with us.
Excluding the new runners tonight we had 29 runners & walkers set Season or Lifetime Waterfront 5k PBs tonight - Congrats!
The weather last night was not too bad actually - the fog/mist that came in yesterday afternoon and the possible threat of rain (but it held off until after we finished) made the waterfront much roomier for runners than is normal (which was great)
Top three Men on course tonight were Harry Burnard (in 16:14) ahead of Joe Lynch & Andy Crosland
On the ladies side tonight top three were Jean Kozyniak (in 18:00), followed by Letha Whitman & Dianne Smyth.
The first walker home was Terri Grimmett in 34:08, and Ray Marten was the first Male walker home in 39:49
Again, congratulations to all who took part tonight we look forward to seeing you all again this summer

Rowan was out on the finish line taking photos - they will be possibly be posted in the next day or so on his blog - located here: http://rowanglive.blogspot.co.nz/
Thanks for being there to take the photos Rowan!
Scottish Pacers & Helpers - Thank you!
Big thanks to the volunteers from Scottish Athletics for the help last night, with registration, pacing and on the finish line (it was slightly more manic than usual with the increased numbers and the testing of the timing system (more work on that to happen!).
Thanks to Macs Brewbar for the use of their area as our registration and the prizegiving location. And for those participants that made use of the location post run to relax and socialise. (hope you made use of the discount on the back of your race bibs!) - And Daryl apologises for forgetting to sort out the Bowls of Fries last night (Argh!!!)
If you have any feedback/questions on the results or the event in general - please feel free to drop us an email (@ email@example.com)
Again thank you all! - We look forward to seeing you next week.
