It seems March has arrived and so has the wintry weather - this week we had a cold Southerly blast with occasional light showers coming through. This at least meant we had an (mainly) open and empty waterfront to race across last night. There were 82 runners & walkers who joined with us for the third to last Waterfront 5k of the 2016/17 season, including nearly 30 from Scottish who are using this week as their season launch (check out more details on the opening club run here )
We had 13 new participants for the season tonight, with 9 of them joining us for the first time ever - special welcome to those people, we promise the the Wellington Harbour is not always that cold for a run.
Excluding the new runners tonight we had 18 runners & walkers set Season or Lifetime Waterfront 5k PBs tonight - Congrats!
Top three Men on course tonight were Mile Jones in 16:41, ahead of Andy Ford and Geoff Ferry.
On the ladies side tonight top three were Tamara Winkler in 18:35, ahead of Claudia Layton and Emma Bassett.
The first walker home was John Hines in 40:48 and the first female walker was Kim Payton in 41:45.
Congratulations to all who took part tonight we look forward to seeing you all again this summer in the next two weeks (on a more beautiful night).
We hope the Pacers from Scottish were a motivation and helped you get through to a goal time. So thank you Rowan, Michael, James, & Lindsay for last nights efforts.
If you would like pacers of different times, let us know. and we will see what Scottish can arrange. They are planning to have at least 3 pacers most nights, and they will set the pace times based on requests (and who is available)
Also a big thanks to the Walkers from the Scottish Athletics for the help last night with registration and Finish line - it is greatly appreciated in those cold conditions.
Thanks to Macs Brewbar for the bowls of Fries afterwards to help warm our runners back up!
If you have any feedback / questions on the results or the event in general - please feel free to drop us an email (email@example.com)
Again thank you all.
