Weather conditions were fine, warm and calm (not for the first time this series!). However this, plus the appearance of the English cricket team on the waterfront, resulted in big numbers of pedestrians sharing the lovely Wellington waterfront with us. We hope you all managed a largely unimpeded race.
Ben Twyman led the field of 59 runners and walkers home again tonight with a very good time of 16min 36sec. Michelle van Looy had a fast pair of legs on, winning the female race with a time of 19.31. Sean Lake was the fastest walker with a time of 30.10. A special "get well soon" message goes out to Roger Marwick, who took a tumble on the course and needed medical assistance for a head cut. A big thanks to Tony Gormley who assisted Roger.
As always, a big thanks to our sponsors - Lifestyle Sports, Chicago Sports Cafe and Pak n Save Kilbirnie.
And thanks to the team from Wellington Scottish Athletics Club for the excellent officiating.
Best wishes to everyone competing in the Cigna Round the Bays this coming Sunday. I hope the 5km series has helped your preparation. And if next Sunday doesn't give you enough racing, we look forward to seeing you back next Tuesday.
