For the 2nd week in a row the weather conditions were ideal for a casual walk around the Waterfront, but perhaps a bit too hot for racing? Certainly the rehydration drink from Chicago Bar afterwards was appreciated.
And an apology from us: a mis-communication meant the turnaround tonight was 20m after the Oriental Bay pedestrian crossing, instead of 20m before. This made tonight's race 80m long. Sorry!
47 runners and walkers fronted for their final blowout before Christmas Day. Leading everyone home was Hamish Carson, repeating last week's win, with a time of 15min 8sec. Very speedy! Series regular Ben Twyman was 2nd. Rebecca Elliott was the fastest female, clocking 18min 45sec. Sean Lake (30.57) and Andrea Adams (39.17) were the fastest walkers. Particular mention of our UK visitor Martin Ford, who clocked 20min 10sec - at 71 years of age!
Thanks to the team from Wellington Scottish Athletics Club for the help tonight. And a big thanks to our sponsors - Pak n Save Kilbirnie, Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes.
We take a break now, but we will be back in just 2 short weeks, for the first race of 2015 on 6 January.
