Weather conditions were ideal for the 5th race in Waterfront 5km Series - fine and calm. This helped attract 90 keen runners and walkers.
Leading everyone home was Ben Twyman, repeating last week's win, but this time 4 seconds faster in 16min 24sec, with Valentino Luna Hernandez just 10 sec behind. Florence Reynolds recorded an excellent 18min 50sec to be first female finisher. Terri Grimmett (30min 30sec) again won the walk, 23 seconds ahead of Fraser Samson.
A big thanks to the team from the Scottish Athletics Club's women's section (Rachael, Christine, Mandy, Hinano, Pam, Sharon, Ange, Lyn) plus Don and Ian for the excellent officiating.
And thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (email@example.com). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
