Weather conditions were almost ideal for the 4th race in Waterfront 5km Series - a light southerly wind to assist the run home. This helped attract 70 keen runners and walkers.
Leading everyone home was Ben Twyman with a time of 16min 28sec, with Alasdair Saunders just 4 sec behind. Charlotte Floodsmith-Ryan recorded an excellent 19min 35sec to be first female finisher. Terri Grimmett (30min 35sec) again won the walk, 12sec ahead of Fraser Samson.
A big thanks to the team from the Scottish Athletics Club's men's section (Ian, Malcolm, Daniel, Ben) plus Hinano and Mandy for the excellent officiating.
And thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (email@example.com). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
