62 keen runners and walkers fronted for the 3rd Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k. Just like the first 2 weeks, the weather was perfect, resulting in some excellent times being posted. Leading everyone home was top NZ Masters runner Grant McLean with a time of 17min 29sec. Aubrey Begley just won the women's race, ahead of Cati Pearson. Both recording a time of 20min 28sec. Terri Grimmett (31min 19sec) was the fastest walker, just 9sec in front of Fraser Samson.
A big thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (email@example.com). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
And thanks to the team from Wellington Scottish Athletics Club's Walking section for the excellent officiating.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
