Tonight was the first of our “PB Party” nights. On the last Tuesday of each month we will provide pacers to help those who want to try break a certain time goal.
We had 68 runners cross the finish line tonight and a handful of personal bests run.
We had a sub 27 pacer, a sub 25 pacer, a sub 22 pacer and a sub 20 pacer. Thank you to the Scottish Athletics Men for assisting. If there are any particular times that you would like, please let us know and we will see what we can do!
We had to battle with the wind yet again, on the bright side tonight is our last pre Daylight Savings race so from next week we will at least have more sunlight while racing. Unfortunately I cannot make any promises about the future weather. Just future sunlight.
In spite of the wind, we did have some great racing. Our fastest male tonight was Peter Stevens, who ran a 17:15. Jackie Mexted had another winning appearance and was our first female. Her time was 18:20 and she had a new racer hot on her heels! It is always encouraging to see lots of racing up ahead.
Huge thanks to the team from the Scottish Athletics Club Walking section. They provided excellent service and I am sure all the participants’ tonight appreciated the human cone and the bright orange physical cone at the turn around point. Also thank you to our regular helpers, Bob and Chand for the help in the finishing area.
And thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes.
Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (firstname.lastname@example.org). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
If you spot any errors with our results, please email Hinano (email@example.com).
