Just 67 runners and walkers fronted for the 6th race in Waterfront 5km Series. There were very few PBs tonight with the northerly wind so strong it was lucky competitors didn't end up blown into the harbour. Let's hope the calm and settled weather returns next week.
Leading everyone home was Oliver O'Leary in his first race in the series with a time of 19min 17sec. Aubrey Begley recorded a time of 21min 57sec to be first female finisher. John Leonard had his first win of the series,
winning the walk in 34min 9sec, while Daphne Jones (37min 41sec) won the women's walk.
A big thanks to the team from the Scottish Athletics Club's masters men's section for the excellent officiating in most unpleasant conditions.
And thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running
shoes. If you can't get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (email@example.com). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
