115 runners and walkers fronted for the 16th race in Waterfront 5km Series. Weather conditions were very good with little wind - long may it continue!
Leading everyone home was former NZ marathon champion Matt Dravitzki in a time of 16min 7sec. He was over a minute ahead of Tom Lynskey. Fastest female was Rebecca Keat with a time of 18min 29sec. Fraser Samson was the first walker with a time of 31min 25sec with Frances Le Fort the first female walker in a time of 35min 10sec.
A big thanks to the team from the Scottish Athletics Club''s women''s section (Jo, Pip, Anne, Hinano, Pam) plus Don and the great timekeepers Dan and Geoff for the excellent officiating.
And thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. Lifestyle has a very extensive range of running shoes. If you can''t get to the shop in Tawa, send Manager Karen an email (firstname.lastname@example.org). She would be more than happy to answer your questions or source a pair of your favourite shoes.
We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks. Spread the word around your friends and workmates. Issue a few challenges and then enjoy some post race analysis over a beer.
