Race report

Brian Garmonsway made his first appearance at this year's Lifestyle Sports Waterfront 5k series, and was a convincing winner leading home the 122 competitors in a time of 16min 15sec. He was 30sec ahead of Adam Steinmetz. Visiting from the UK was Erica Fogg, and she had an impressive win in the women's race in a time of 17min 58sec. Fiona Dowling was 2nd in 19min 45sec. John Roskvist (29min 14sec - a series PB!) and Terri Grimmett (30min 55sec) notched up another win in the walkers race. The light but cold southerly wind made for reasonable racing conditions.

Next week (Tuesday 27 Sept) the Waterfront 5k will play host to the official launch of a running book written by Hayden Shearman. "Runner's Guide to Wellington" is a 100-page guidebook to everything running in Wellington. It includes descriptions, tips, maps, elevation charts and photos of over 25 top Wellington running trails, as well as interviews with Wellington's own running legends. Coach (and brother of Nick) Steve Willis describes the book as "Informative, insightful and motivational. A must-have resource that every runner will enjoy." We're doing a special deal of only $15 for race entry and a copy of the book (book only = $12). So it's a great excuse to get those racing flats dusted off and come home with a great book.

A big thanks to our sponsors - in particular Lifestyle Sports for the weekly gift voucher and Chicago Sports Cafe for the free drink afterwards and bar tabs as spot prizes. We look forward to seeing you all back again in the coming weeks.
